What Is the Passion Planner?
The Passion Planner is a structured calendar which was created to help an individual move toward their passions by transforming them into achievable goals. You can buy this product in either a dated version or an undated version. There is even an academic planner version that is perfect for college students.
For our Passion Planner review, we stuck with the undated version. This is somewhat different than the academic planner version, which may demand a review of its own. However, it is nearly identical to the dated version of the Passion Planner, except that its calendar dates are already printed.
What’s Inside
At first glance, the Passion Planner looks like any other soft faux-leather-covered black notebook. Open it up, and the similarities continue. The notebook opens on a “If Lost, Please Return to …” page, which is really helpful in the event your list of passions gets misplaced. Early in the planner are instructions for how to construct your first Passion Map. This map clearly states your goals and breaks them down to steps along the way. In essence, the process looks like this:
- Brainstorming: You write down all the desires that come to mind, linking similar goals together
- Prioritization: You rank these desires into those you want the most versus those you could achieve later in life
- Passion Plan: You link together the steps necessary to reach your highest priority plan
- Specification: You add specific details to this highest priority plan
- Time-Lining: Now that you have your specifics, you can apply a timetable to help you keep to your plan in a timely manner
- Dating: You set specific dates so that this timeline is directly achievable
- Working: You work towards your goals! After all this planning, this actually begins to feel like the easy part, and you will move towards your goal fluidly
Calendar
The Passion Planner then provides calendar blocks to help you organize your life in accord with these goals. It even asks reflective questions at intervals to help make sure you do not stray from your goals. We think this process works wonderfully, and of course it is more fully explicated in the Passion Planner itself. We wanted to provide you with the bare bones outline, however, so you could compare it to its competition.

2. The Happy Planner Daily 18 Month Planner
Although the 18 Month Happy Planner claims to be “classic,” the design looks hyper modern. Looking somewhat like the inspirational message section of a Hobby Lobby, this planner is bustling with color that the other planners avoided. We actually think that the Passion Planner and the BestSelf Co. the SELF Journal benefit from avoiding the overly ornate stylings of the Classic 18 Month Happy Planner. We prefer a bit of a classier touch to our aesthetics. This planner is certainly sturdy, and it is bigger than the pocket versions presented earlier. It allows you to lay out your goals on a calendar which has both weekly and monthly views to help keep you organized. Ultimately, the goal achievement philosophy of the Classic 18 Month Happy Planner did not come close to those systems utilized by the Passion Planner in terms of laying out the path toward one’s goals.
Design Quality
We’re really not fans of how this journal looks. However, if you are the type to fill your house with inspirational messages in highly ornate scrawl, this could be the aesthetic experience you are seeking.
Ease of Use
Since this is much like a calendar in terms of raw features, we would be amiss to designate it anything other than easy to use.
Organizational Features
This planner lays out some useful views of your calendar, but ultimately does not offer much more than a calendar would.
